Installing Modpacks

The Stardew Valley Mod Manager allows you to install entire modpacks with just a few clicks, thanks to our Automatic Modpack Installer and the SDVMP File Format.

Installing a large amount of mods to join a multiplayer farm or to share the experience of your favourite content creators can be a tedious process, downloading all of the individual mods and installing them manually. With Stardew Valley v220502, we've introduced the latest generation of our SDVMP File Format.

What is an SDVMP File? SDVMP stands for "Stardew Valley Modpack". The SDVMP file contains all of the individual mods as well as important information that can be parsed to the Stardew Valley Mod Manager. They come with their own icon and double clicking on one will automatically open the Stardew Valley Mod Manager to the Modpack Installer, loading the modpack in automatically.

Version 220502:

Windows 10 machines and lower hardware Windows 11 machines running v220502 may find that the modpack installer does not correctly install mods. This is because the software was designed on and for Windows 11. This limitation has been resolved in version 220601.

To get started with installing a modpack, you must first have a modpack to install. We recommend only installing modpacks if they are from a source that you trust - like a friend, or a reliable and well known developer.

Once you have the SDVMP file downloaded onto your PC, you can simply double click on it to open the Stardew Valley Modpack Installer. It should look something like this:

Alternatively, you can open the Stardew Valley Mod Manager the way you normally do, and click "Install Mods", followed by the button that says "Install Modpack (.SDVMP)" and browsing for the modpack.

Installing the Modpack

Once you have verified that you meet the requirements for the modpack (drive space available), and have read any warnings that present themselves, click "Continue"

Updating Mods

You will be presented with a window that will show you two lists.

  1. List one shows you the list of mods that are contained within the modpack. All of these mods will be installed. There is no way to select and deselect mods from the install process.

  2. List two shows you any of the mods in the list that you already have installed on your PC. It is important to note that any mods that appear in list two will be overwritten by the version that is included with the modpack.

Finishing The Install

Once everything looks good, simply continue with the installation process. Depending on the size of your modpack, this could take anywhere from seconds to minutes.

Once the modpack is installed, you will receive a popup that alerts you that the modpack has been installed successfully. This popup will also inform you that a preset has been generated for the modpack automatically. This is helpful, as you can use this to turn on the entire modpack with just a few clicks.

Make sure to remember: All of your mods will be disabled after you have installed a modpack, so be sure to open the Stardew Valley Mod Manager after the installation is completed to re-enable them, or enable the modpack via the "Load Presets" function.
