Check for Updates on Startup

When you first launch the Stardew Valley Mod Manager, it will start with a small window called a "Splash Screen". This window will load all of the necessary files and information for the program to run, as well as ensuring that the necessary directories are found.

The application will also (by default) check if there are any updates available. This can be turned off in the settings if you prefer to manually check for updates.

If updates are available... You should receive the following prompt if the splash screen if there are updates available

If you click "Yes", the application will automatically begin the process of downloading the update. This will be demonstrated by a window that looks like the following, which reports on the progress of the download:

Once the download is complete, the application will close and then prompt you for administrator priviliges to install the update to your system. You will be prompted to review the license agreement.

If for some reason the application completes the download and does not close, you may need to manually exit the application before the installation will be allowed to continue.

Manually Check for Updates

If you have disabled the option to automatically check for updates on startup, you can manually check for updates at any time. Once the splash screen has taken you to the Main Dashboard, simply click on the "Check for Updates" hyperlink at the bottom right of the window. This will check for updates.

Version 220304 and Earlier

The update process in earlier versions (220304 and earlier) is slightly more manual than in 220401 and newer. With this being said, the process is still simple.
