It only takes a few minutes to set up Astroneer Launcher to run when you launch Astroneer from Steam. This way, you'll always run Astroneer through the Astroneer Launcher, never missing out on backups

Since the Astroneer Launcher requires you to launch Astroneer through the launcher to keep automatic backups, you may want to configure Steam to launch the Astroneer Launcher instead of launching you directly into the game. This will ensure that your automatic backups are never missed, and you won't have to go out of your way to remember to only launch your game using the Astroneer Launcher.
To get started, you'll need to have the following pre-requisites:
Step One: Open Steam To get started, open Steam. Once you're in Steam, you'll want to navigate to the "Library" tab. Your window should look something like this:
From here, you'll want to use the Games list on the left hand side of the window, or the games panel in the "Shelves" section of the main window.
Step Two: Edit Astroneer Properties From here, you'll need to find Astroneer within your games list or the game shelves. Once you find Astroneer, you'll need to right click on it and then click "Properties"
Once you have clicked on "Properties" you should see a dialog window appear with a list of vertical tabs and settings. It should open by default to the "General" tab, and should look something like the following:
Step Three: Edit Launch Options To make it so Steam launches Astroneer Launcher instead of Astroneer, you'll want to change the Launch Options, by pasting the following text into the textbox:
Note: Make sure to copy it including the quotation marks. You can use the copy button when hovering over the text to copy it to your clipboard.
When you open Astroneer using Steam, now Steam will open the Astroneer Launcher. You can then click "Play Game" to play the game or create manual backups. To create Automatic Backups, make sure the setting is enabled.
Steam Achievements Steam Achievements should still work with Astroneer Launcher as the default launch program. The game itself remains completely untouched, so the code that grants achievements should still work as intended.
Steam Playtime Playtime statistics will still run when Astroneer is launched with Astroneer Launcher. You may however find that if the launcher is left open, this will contribute to your playtime.
