Setting up the Application

Once you have downloaded and installed the Astroneer Launcher, you will have to complete the first-run setup process.

First-Run Setup

The first-run setup will only occur when you first open the Stardew Valley Mod Manager or when you reset the application from the settings. When you first run the application, you'll be greeted with the following window:

Step One: Get Started

The first window that will be displayed as part of the first-run setup. This window will only appear if the application hasn't been set up

In order to use the Astroneer Launcher, we need to know a few things. This includes some of the preferences that will end up being your settings. A breakdown of these settings can be found below:

Do you have an existing Astroneer save on your PC? We recommend you having at least one save on your PC so that Astroneer has had a chance to create all of the necessary files and folders.

Do you use the Steam copy of Astroneer? This software was designed with the Steam copy of Astroneer in mind and has only been tested with the Steam version of Astroneer. Selecting "No" will prompt the user with a warning of this.

Would you like to check for updates on startup? This setting will define whether or not the Astroneer Launcher should connect to RWE Labs and check for updates when it is launched. Please note that this does not include updating Astroneer (the game) as that is done through Steam.

Should we back up your saves every time you play? This setting will define whether the Astroneer Launcher will automatically back your saves up when you click "Play Game" or whether you'd prefer to manage your backing up manually. Astroneer Launcher gives the option to manually back up at any time from the Dashboard.

Once you have selected all of your options, click "Next Step" to show the next window:

Step Two: Locate Files

The second window displayed as a part of the first run setup. This window will guide you to getting your Astroneer Directory (Where your game files are saved)

The Astroneer Launcher will automatically try to find your game files based on common Steam Directory locations. If your Steam and Astroneer are both installed in their default locations, this should prefill correctly. Otherwise, follow the instructions and animated image to get the directory yourself.

The application will need to know where your game files are in order to launch them and make additions to them.
